Earlier this term, the Stitch & Switch sewing activity welcomed Christine Joshua from our parent community, who shared a festive and creative design for the holiday season. Christine introduced a beautiful idea for Christmas tree decorations made by repurposing BISP school uniforms. She demonstrated how fabric that might otherwise go to waste can be transformed into meaningful ornaments with a personal touch.
During the workshop, Christine spoke about her passion for sewing, upcycling and giving new life to materials that are no longer in everyday use. Her practical tips encouraged students to see old clothes not as waste but as a resource, a philosophy that reflects the core aim of Stitch & Switch.
The session was both hands-on and thought-provoking, showing how small creative choices can help reduce landfill while bringing joy into our homes. It was a wonderful example of our community coming together to share skills, promote sustainability and spread seasonal cheer. We extend our thanks to Christine for her time, enthusiasm and creativity.
Our sewers have been hard at work over the past few weeks creating these ornaments, which will be on sale at next week’s Christmas Fair alongside other CAS art based items. All proceeds will go to charity, so be sure to pick one up!
