As part of their IB Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) requirements, BISP Year 12 students Daisy, Vicky, Libi, and Linnea completed a meaningful project that combined creativity, collaboration, and service to the wider community.

For their CAS project, the students decided to create and sell Christmas candles at the BISP Christmas Fair, with a strong focus on sustainability. They spent time researching environmentally friendly materials and chose to use soy wax, Christmas-themed reusable metal tins, and festive scents made from essential oils to ensure their candles were both sustainable and suitable for long-term use.

The group worked together to design, produce, and package the candles before running their own stall at the Christmas Fair. Their teamwork and preparation paid off, as they sold all of their candles within the first hour of the event. In total, they raised approximately 2,200 THB, with all proceeds donated to Good Shepherd, a charity that supports individuals affected by, or at risk of, human trafficking.

The project strongly reflected CAS Learning Outcome 5: demonstrating the skills and recognising the benefits of working collaboratively. Through planning, problem-solving, and shared responsibility, the students experienced first-hand the value of teamwork in achieving a common goal.

Reflecting on the project, Vicky shared, “Working with my friends to make a difference was fulfilling.” Libi added, “Seeing the impact our candles had on the Phuket community was so rewarding.”

Well done to Daisy, Vicky, Libi, and Linnea for completing a thoughtful CAS project that made a positive impact both within the BISP community and beyond.
