The wait is over for British International School, Phuket alumna Amanda Obdam.

Today (14 May,) the 27-year-old former student born in Phuket will represent Thailand in the Preliminary Round of the 69th Miss Universe competition in Florida, USA. The 2020 competition was due to take place at the end of last year but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Amanda has joined contestants from 74 countries and territories in Florida and has been preparing for the competition for over a week. The main event will be televised from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Sunday 16 May.

Fun fact about Amanda: she is the current BISP school record holder for the Over 15 Girls 200-meter sprint. Amanda’s record stands at 29.28 seconds and was set in 2010.

On behalf of everyone at BISP, we would like to wish Amanda the best of luck in the 2020 Miss Universe Competition. Go Thailand!
