Our Reception children had an unforgettable experience during their very own rocket launch event!
In the week leading up to the big launch, the children became real-life engineers. They designed and built their own rockets in the classroom, carefully thinking about what might help them fly higher — and what might hold them back. Each class also worked collaboratively to decorate a special water rocket made from a 1.5L bottle, proudly adding their own creative touches.
When the countdown moment finally arrived, the rockets were filled with water and powered skyward by Mr Little, our Secondary science teacher, using a bicycle pump. The children counted down together from 10, and then… blast off!
Before launch day, the children experimented with smaller foam rockets. As part of their space-themed learning, they created imaginative aliens and magical, made-up planets. The classroom was filled with young astronauts, construction workers, engineers and explorers, all busy building, designing and dreaming big!
It was a fantastic celebration of creativity, teamwork and curiosity, and a great day for our young space explorers! 🚀✨
