BISP Primary students came together on Wednesday, 2 September to celebrate House Day, a day of activities designed to build connections across year groups and explore what it means to be part of a House community.

Throughout the day, students learned more about BISP’s four Houses, Green Cobras, Yellow Leopards, Red Tigers and Blue Sharks, and considered how being part of a House connects with our school values of Respect, Kindness and Integrity.

An important part of the day was thinking about teamwork. Students discussed what makes a positive team member, how we can encourage and support one another, and the different ways everyone can contribute towards a shared goal.

The day culminated in the Bridge House Challenge, bringing together students from Year 1 to Year 6 in their House teams. Their task was to work together to design and build a bridge before putting their creation to the test to see how much weight it could hold.

The challenge produced plenty of creative designs, but the bridges were only part of the activity. Across the teams, students had to share ideas, listen to one another, solve problems and adapt their designs as they worked.

House Day provided a fun way for students across Primary to connect beyond their usual classes and year groups, while putting respect, cooperation, kindness and determination into action.
